Beer Terms: Acetaldehyde

Beer Terms from High Octane Growler

We start with the letter A because, we’re obsessive. And we love language as much as we love beer.

Acetaldehyde: This byproduct of fermentation has a green apple aroma, and is produced by plants as part of their normal metabolism. It is often believed to be one of the causes of hangovers.

Of course, the boilermakers you poured on top of the tequila shooters at the karaoke bar during your office after-party may have had something to do with that hangover too. So let’s not get all crazy and blame this all on the acetaldehyde.

And hangover or not, we will never be able to adequately pronounce acetaldehyde.
